Roam Anti-Theft Pack 23L

• Locking zipper. A casual tug won't open the zip; twist the pull in the opposite direction. Ordinary from outside, which is the point.
• RFID-shielded card pocket. Blocks contactless skimming on cards stored inside.
• Scratch- and water-resistant polyester. Shrugs off rain, dust, and the back of an Uber. Commute-grade rain, not monsoon-grade.
• Magnetic-seal utility compartment. Hidden pocket sized for an iPad or paperback; top snaps shut on its own. Doubles as a strap garage for top-handle carry.
• Fully enclosed 23L shape. Fits a 16" laptop, an iPad, phone slots, and a front compartment for essentials. No external pockets: nothing dangling, nothing easy to snatch.
• Built robust, padded for all-day carry. Bar-tacked stress points, quality-grade clips, smooth zips, reinforced top handle. 3D breathable back panel. Trolley pass-through.

For everyday commuters and weekend travellers who want anti-theft hardware on a comfortable, robust everyday backpack, with four colours to choose from.

What's the difference vs the Commuter 20L? Both are anti-theft, both have RFID. The Commuter is a sharper work-tier shape with heavier-duty spring-buckle locking zips and a 15" laptop sleeve. Roam is the casual everyday option: locking zipper instead of spring-buckle, four colour options, a more relaxed shape, and a larger 16" laptop sleeve.

How does the locking zipper actually work? Pull it the normal way and it stays shut, so a casual tug from someone walking past won't open it. To open it yourself, twist the pull in the opposite direction first. There's no code to remember and nothing to unlock, and from the outside it looks like an ordinary zip, which is the point.

Can I padlock the zips? No, the pulls aren't shaped to take a padlock. There is a fabric lip that sits over the zip line, which keeps dirt and dust off the teeth and makes the zip less obvious to get at in the first place.

Does the RFID shielding cover the whole bag? No. The shielding is in the card pocket only. Cards kept in that pocket are protected from contactless skimming, but anything stored elsewhere in the bag isn't, so keep cards and a passport in the shielded pocket.

What size laptop fits? The padded sleeve takes up to a 16" laptop, with a little room to spare. An iPad fits in the magnetic utility compartment at the same time.

Is there a water bottle pocket on the outside? No, and that's deliberate. The Roam has no external pockets, so there's nothing hanging off the outside for someone to reach into on a train. A bottle goes inside the main compartment.

Is it soft or structured? Soft, and that's the design. A flexible body sits more comfortably against your back than a rigid panel does, and it lets the bag expand when you need the extra room, while bar-tacked stress points and a reinforced handle keep it robust. The trade-off is that it won't stand up on its own when it's close to empty, so with a laptop in and little else, it sits better laid on its back.

How weatherproof is it? The polyester shell is scratch- and water-resistant; shrugs off commute-grade rain, splashes, and dust. The zip itself isn't sealed, so don't expect it to hold up in a downpour. For genuinely wet conditions, a dry-bag liner is the safer call.

Does it work as carry-on? At 43 × 28.5 × 19 cm it sits well inside the cabin-bag size limits for major Australian carriers, and there's a trolley pass-through on the back so it rides on a suitcase handle. Worth checking your airline's weight allowance, since those vary more than the size rules do.

What's the strap garage for? The hidden magnetic pocket on the back opens wide enough to tuck the shoulder straps inside. Do that and the bag carries by its top handle, which is useful going into a meeting, a restaurant, or an overhead locker where loose straps catch.

What's the warranty, and what if I change my mind? All emmèton bags carry a 24-month warranty from the date of purchase, covering major faults such as torn seams or fabric failure. General wear and tear isn't covered. On top of that you've got 60-day money-back returns.
