Does it stand up on its own? Yes. The shell is rigid enough that it holds a square shape and stands upright, empty or loaded. It doesn't flop onto its side or collapse when you take things out, which is the whole reason to choose a structured duffle.

Will it fit as carry-on? At 46 × 25 × 24 cm it's inside the usual Australian cabin allowance of 56 × 36 × 23 on length and width, and about 1 cm over on depth. Unlike a soft duffle it won't press down into a sizer, so keep the end buckles clipped on a flying day and check your carrier, especially internationally where depth limits are often tighter.

Does it work for business travel? It's a good fit if you'd rather not turn up with a corporate backpack. Cabin-sized, smart enough for a work trip, and the same bag handles the gym session and the night away at the other end. One bag for the trip instead of a laptop pack plus a holdall.

Does it take a laptop? There's no dedicated padded sleeve, but a 16 inch laptop goes in the main compartment easily. Bring your own sleeve if you're carrying one regularly. For a padded sleeve built against the back panel, look at the Flow 22.5L or the Commuter 20L.

Is the Flex anti-theft? No. There are no locking zips and no RFID pocket. The Flex is the design-led duffle in the range. For anti-theft carry in a bag this shape, the Session 36L is the one.

How is it different from the Session 36L? Size and shape, mostly. The Flex is 27L, structured, and holds a clean square outline; the Session is 36L, soft, and built around a shoe compartment for bulkier kit. Choose the Flex for a night away when you want something compact that keeps its shape. Choose the Session when you're carrying shoes, a ball, or a longer trip's worth of gear.

Is 27L enough for a weekend? For one or two nights, comfortably: a change of clothes, a towel, toiletries and a pair of shoes if you pack them in their own bag. Release the end buckles and you've got about 30% again on top of that. For four days, you want the Session 36L.

Can I wear it as a backpack the whole time? Yes, though the straps are padded for shorter wears rather than a long commute. For a longer walk, the padded shoulder strap is the more comfortable option.

What's the pocket on the shoulder strap for? Cards, keys, an Opal card, anything you want to reach without putting the bag down. It sits flat enough that you don't notice it under the strap.

Water-resistant or waterproof? Water-resistant. The 2520D polyester shell handles a shower and the base pocket handles damp gym kit, but neither is built to be submerged, so keep electronics out of the base pocket.
